Rossmore Shawl
The Rossmore shawl is a triangular shawl, worked in biased garter stitch. Its simple garter stitch & slipped stitch patterns make this pattern suitable for confident beginners, as only one colour is worked in each row.
The pattern begins by casting on a few stitches, increasing the number of stitches as you work. The shawl is worked flat, in garter stitch stripes, and with simple motifs.
The simple mosaic stitch motifs are inspired by geometric surface decoration on gold lunulae in the National Museum of Ireland.
November 2019 the pattern has been updated, with corrections to written instructions for stitch patterns 2 and 3, and some format changes, for improved clarity.
The pattern includes written and charted instruction for the slipped stitch motifs.
