Rothesay Cowl
A chunky knit cowl with elegant horseshoe cables, designed as a companion to the Rothesay Hat.
I absolutely love gigantic, cozy cowls, but I’m always frustrated when I try to wear them with a winter coat. Some are too bulky to close the coat over; some slip down and won’t cover your nose and mouth. As a new resident of Canada, I needed a cold-weather cowl with both form and function. The Rothesay cowl is designed to be worn wrapped double, for snug & cozy warmth that will stand up to cover your nose and fit easily under your coat.
The Rothesay cowl & hat are named for Rothesay, NB, a charming riverfront town just south of my new home in New Brunswick, where I moved with my husband earlier this year. (I wanted to name them after our actual hometown of Nauwigewauk, but Rothesay is a heck of a lot easier to remember.) ;)
This cowl, together with the Rothesay Hat, are my first ever published patterns on Ravelry. I had a great time designing them and hope you will have even more fun creating them! Happy knitting!
