Rothorn
Find the pattern here!
The challenge for this project was to combine an array of colors, but with the limitation of using only very basic skills; no intarsia or fair-isle or mosaic knitting. In the search for ideas, I remembered reading the book from Wooly Thoughts, and that’s how I got my inspiration; using patchwork to play with geometry and shapes!
Rothorn is worked flat and uses only basic stitches. Each color is a separate piece that is then sewn together with the other pieces. This design is made to work with any of the Wollmeise Birdies Kits. The size is adjustable, as more pieces can be joined to make the shawl wider and/or longer.
The vibrant colors of the Rohrspatz & Wollmeise yarns really pop in this type of patchwork project, where many colors can be combined without a visual excess to the end result.
Instructions are given in written abbreviated form.
