rot∆ted
rot∆ted is a series of differently colored wedges rotated slightly from each other and embellished with a simple slip stitch pattern. Constructed in one piece using each color separately, it is worked bottom up, starting at the tip. rot∆ted knits up quickly in garter stitch and uses short rows for shaping. This pattern is great for using up those mini skeins or larger leftovers you’ve been saving.
Pattern Style: Written pattern with tables and abbreviations. Diagram included.
Difficulty & Construction: Advanced. Must be comfortable with short rows: The first wedge (I started with black) is worked conventionally, using short rows at the top for shaping. Subsequent wedges are worked almost entirely using short rows, beginning along the top of the previous wedge.
Techniques: Garter stitch, slipped stitches, w&t short rows, basic increasing
Dimensions:
Length: 68”/ 173 cm point to point
Depth: 12” / 30.5 cm
Gauge: Gauge is not critical for this project, but a different gauge will alter the size and use more or less yarn. 20 stitches and 42 rows to 4 inches in garter stitch after blocking.
Needles: US Size 6 (4.0mm) circular needle for working flat, or straight needles. Or size needed to get gauge.
Notions: colored stitch markers, row counter, locking stitch marker, tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Yarn: Yarn: 150g/ 690 yards fingering weight total.
* 6 colors 25g/115 yards each (I used a 5 color mini-skein set plus a 6th color from stash)
