Round About Baby Blanket
Welcome 2024! Here is my thank you gift to you to celebrate another year of knitting. Hope you enjoy this pattern.
This adorable baby blanket is a perfect way to use up leftover bits of sock yarn. Each square is worked from the center out beginning with a small square worked in sock yarn. The main color is then added, and with the strands held together, squares are knit in the round from the center out.
Measurements:
27” X 27” / 68.5 cm x 68.5 cm. Easily adjustable. Each square in the sample measures approximately 6”x 6” / 15 cm x 15 cm.
Yarn:
Dk or Worsted weight yarn held together with various colors (or a single color) of sock weight yarn.
Yarn used:
MC: Knit picks Crayon (100% pima cotton, 128 yds/117m per 50g ball) in Buttermilk.
CC: Various Color of Cape May Fiber Sock (463 yds/423m per 100g skein)
Yardage
Each square uses approximately 10 g / 26 yds of MC and 6 g / 30 yds of CC.
To complete a 16 square blanket, you will need approximately 420 yds of MC and 480 yds of CC (120 yds of each color).
Gauge:
13 sts = 4” / 10 cm in st st with one strand of MC and one stand of sock yarn held together on main needle.
8 sts and 12 rows = 1” in garter st in sock yarn with center square needle.
Obtaining the same gauge is not terribly important, however a different gauge will affect the amounts of yarn used and the final measurement of your blanket.
