Round and Round hat
This is a crocheted hat with horizontal textured ribs and a vertically worked ribbed brim.
It can be made to any size by altering the length of your starting chain to fit around the head you are making the hat for.
You can use any yarn with any appropriate hook, if you use a thicker yarn the horizontal ribs will be thicker, if you use a finer yarn the horizontal ribs will be narrower, you can alter the number of pattern repeats to suit your yarn. I don’t think that yarn thicker than worsted weight would suit the pattern, but you could try.
Gauge isn’t really important as long as you make sure it will fit you. Slip stitch crochet can get tighter as you work so you must take care to keep your tension loose. It takes practice but it isn’t hard. A pointy hook makes it easier.
You can make it in one colour or change colours - I have written the places to change colour to get the ribs in different colours.
The jog between ribs does show a little, I found it more obvious with the colour changes than with the single colour, but that is the nature of working in the round.
