This pattern is perfect for creating something different from your self striping sock yarn than just striped socks. It is extremely easy and you’ll be able to memorize it in no time. What I especially like about this pattern is that you don’t need to purl at all (except for the boomerang/short row heel, but you can choose to make another one instead), all you need to know is yarn over (yo), knitting 2 together (k2tog) and slip, slip, knit-decreases (ssk).
