Round Cove
Round Cove is built directly into CustomFit, which means that each Round Cove pattern is written specifically to your choice of gauge and size.
Round Cove was Jackie’s sweater from our collection of the fall 2014 Make, Wear, Love retreat designs. Like the other retreat designs (Harbor Island and Pilot House), Round Cove matches Jackie’s style to a T - simple, elegant, and timeless. This elbow-sleeve, V-neck cardigan was worked in a fingering weight yarn for a fabric that’s sublime and easy to layer. Simple ribbed trim and small buttons add up to a beautifully classic garment.
The sample shown is worked in The Uncommon Thread’s Posh Fingering, which is a delight both to knit and to wear. It’s a lovely, light yarn in beautifully shaded tones made from 70% Superwash Bluefaced Leicester, 20% Silk and 10% Cashmere. (Yum.) It’s shown in color Plata. Stateside, it can be found at the wonderful shop Yarn Culture (both brick-and-mortar, and online.)
If you’re using this yarn, you should aim for a stitch gauge of around 8 stitches to the inch to get a fabric like the one shown. This design works well in yarns of any gauge, and most textures.
(One quick note on yardage in CustomFit patterns - the yardage requirements listed here are based on my preferred gauge for the recommended yarn. And while I’ve given approximate quantities for standard size sweaters, CustomFit will make your pattern in the size and gauge of your choice. It’s pretty tough to give yardage requirements for any possible combination! If you’re not using the recommended yarn, and/or you’re not a standard size, I recommend Hannah Fettig’s amazing app, stashbot, to get a sense of your yardage requirements.)
