Round Ground Poncho
The Round Ground Poncho wraps the neck and shoulders and spreads wider to the bottom, giving this design a very feminine and stylish appearance. The boucle yarn is used on its own to create a wonderfully soft, textured garment.
The comfy design features a flared hem, high rolled neck, dropped shoulders and long sleeves.
This seamless poncho is knitted top down using a Drops Boucle yarn. The knitting pattern is easy to follow, you begin with the simple turtleneck neckline.
The big advantage of working top down is that you can adjust the length of the poncho. By adding more rounds, it will grow into a stunning tunic!
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
• 10 x 50g balls (1400m or 1530yds) using Alpaca Boucle mix. Colour shade 5110.
• NB If you substitute another yarn, please check tension and yardage.
• 1 Circular needle 4.50mm x length 50cm (US 7).
• 1 Circular needle 5.50mm x length 50 cm (US 9).
• 1 Circular needle 5.50mm x length 110 cm (US 9).
• 1 Tapestry needle.
• 1 Stitch Marker.
NB Needle size is only a guide- if you get too many stitches on 10cm, take a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10cm, take a smaller needle size.
ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS:
One size: Oversized.
Poncho length (from top of the shoulders)- 61cm (24ins).
Poncho flat width (halfway around bottom of hem)- 193cm (76ins).
Sleeve length (from top of shoulders) - 76cm (29.9ins).
Sleeve flat width (just below armhole) - 13cm (5.1ins).
GAUGE (Tension): 15sts and 24rows = 10 cm (4ins), measured over Stockinette st, (garment being blocked), using 5.50mm (US 9) needle or size required to give correct tension. It’s very important to check your gauge (tension) before starting as working to the wrong tension will mean your garment won’t be size shown.
