Round the Ridges
A friend of mine, who is originally from Queensland, says goodbye at the end of a phone call by saying ‘See you round the ridges’. It’s not something I’ve heard anyone else say, and I thought of her when I was knitting these.
This pattern is designed specifically to use the most of 2 x 1.75oz (50g) cakes of dk/worsted gradient yarn. I’ve used a dk duet by Ozifarmer’s Market on Etsy. Some of the Ozifarmer dk bases have more yardage than others, but you should be able to get a pair from any of the bases – you just will have a bit more left over if you use one of the yarns with more yardage. If you don’t have a gradient yarn, you can of course make this in any yarn you have in stash that knits to gauge, and my prototypes were knitted in a solid (the purple) and a speckled (cream and pink).
The pattern is suitable for magic loop or DPNs and suits a confident beginner or a more experienced knitter looking for a quick, easy project.
Two sizes are included in the pattern. Size difference is achieved by manipulating gauge. M fits approximately a 7.5” (19.5 cm) hand, while the bigger size L fits approximately an 8-8.5” hand (21-22 cm).
Gauge for M: 24 st to 4” (10cm) in unblocked stocking stitch for arm, and 26 st to 4” for hand.
Gauge for L: 22 st to 4” (10cm) in unblocked stocking stitch.
You will need approx 195-220 yards (180-200 m) of dk or light worsted yarn that knits to gauge.
