Not your typical knitted cap, this hat has a lot of structure. Knit in the round with basic stitches & easy decreases, the contrasting concentric circles add a bit of whimsy & surprise to the top of the hat. Looks great with long or short hair, fits most heads comfortably & covers the top of the ears.

The brown/yellow version is knit in our Montadale woolen yarn. This yarn is woolen spun, has body and elasticity without being heavy and the hat is warmer, holds it’s shape and isn’t itchy at all.

The grey/green and pink/brown versions are knit in Icelandic, a semi worsted spun, and very drapey yarn without very much elasticity. The hat is very light and slouchy and can be very sophisticated in subdued colors, very playful with more and brighter colors…or somewhere in between.

In either yarn, this pattern is an easy knit and really fun for putting colors together. The hat can be knit with one skein of either the Icelandic or the Monty woolen, but of course you need at least two colors to get the pattern to show best. If you pick two skeins, you can get two hats in opposite colors. Great for not quite matching hats for you and a friend…mother/daughter..
