Roving Lined Mittens

Mittens are a lot warmer than gloves, and this pair is lined with a layer of roving to keep the wind out. They are a lot thinner than regular thrummed mittens, and are easy and fast to knit because you don’t have to work the lining separately. Use a color changing yarn or hand-dyed roving, and you’ll have a pair that’s almost too pretty to take out in the snow!
This pattern is suitable for a beginning fair isle knitter. Calls for 100 yards of a worsted weight yarn, and an equal amount of pencil roving. I held my pencil roving doubled in order to knit with it, so I needed 200 total yards of the roving.
