These pairs of birds are a reminder of the joys to be found in a lifelong commitment. Each bird has an unique color combination, making it a fantastic stash buster.

There is no “colorwork” technique involved. Just plain garter stitch knitting of simple shapes. For the birds, use solid color yarns, variegated yarns or a combination.

Each bird is worked as a block. Blocks are sewn together into Strips and then Strips are knitted together. A border is worked around the edges starting with a pick up and knit. You’ll need two 40”/100 cm circular needles for joining strips. The blocks can be worked in straight needles or a circular.

The pattern has complete written instructions and optional charts for the knitted shapes. Step-by-step illustrations show you how to make a bird.
