Rowan Gauntlets
The rowan tree, with dark green foliage and bright orange-red berries, has traditionally been known as a charm to protect against evil. In Scotland, it was traditional to burn a twig of rowan at Christmas to ward off evil spirits. Honey Girl Farms color Jamie Fraser reminded me of rowan colors, and of course, Jamie is Claire’s protector. These Outlander inspired gauntlets are crocheted with a single skein of Honey Sport yarn, using paired half double crochet to create the look of rowan berries. A quick, fun project with no seaming required. The pattern has four sizes ranging in hand circumference from 7.5 inches to 9 inches. Actual yarn required varies from 170 yards for the smallest size to 210 yards for the largest.
