This hat started as a swatch for the Ari Owl Sweater (page 36), a pattern I was working on in honor of my younger daughter’s love for owls. The name for this bird was one of her first words. Now she wants to wear the hat whenever we leave the house, and hearing her sweet little two-year-old voice asking for, “mah owl hat, Momma!” is music to my ears.
