My Royal Coaster is worked in size 10 thread and a 1.75 mm hook, with a gold edging which uses Goldfingering yarn and a 2 mm hook.

Or if you like, work the piece in one yarn, in which case you work a slightly different edging for the last round to achieve the same look! I worked a multicolor version in the same yarn throughout, as you can see in the second picture.

Measurement: both variations measure just over 4”/10½ cm across.

This coaster was originally designed for a present, to go with a set of mugs with gold leaves on them - see third pic. They do make great gifts!

You have to follow the pattern quite carefully, but I have tried to make the instructions as clear as possible, and there are lots of photos to show you how things should be working out :)
