Rozalka is a bottom-up shawl that starts with 3 stitches and the volume is built up as you continue. A bit rustic in appearance, it is a sister shawl to Jagienka, they are both constructed in the same way, they are both intuitive to knit and great fun to wear.

With this shawl the pattern uses knits, purls and basic lace stitches on the right side whereas the wrong side is just a combination of knits and purls.

The pattern could be customized by using different yarns, needle sizes, or adding repeats to the pattern. The size depends totally on your preference, you just knit on until you reach desired size or you run out of yarn.

Yarn – any ranging from fingering to DK. I used 250g / 800m / 875 yards of Garnstudio Drops Safran, 100% cotton, on US 2½ / 3mm needles, obtaining the shawl which measures 81 x197cm / 32 x 78” blocked.
I used cotton as I wanted a summer shawl for cooler moments of the holidays but it would look equally good in warmer yarn for colder season.

Needles - any size according with the yarn you use.

Gauge is not crucial and depends on the yarn and needles you choose to knit with. My gauge is 22 sts x 30 rows in stockinette = 10x10cm / 4x4”.

Supplies - Stitch markers (optional), tapestry needle to weave in yarn ends.

Rozalka, młodsza siostra Jagienki, jest do niej podobna w stylu i układzie. Też lekko rustykalna, jakby z czasów dawniejszych.

Dzierganie chusty rozpoczyna się od dołu, od 3 oczek i potem stopniowo zwiększają się jej wymiary. Ta metoda ma te zalety, że można dowolnie regulować rozmiar chusty oraz, że daje możliwość wyrobienia włóczki do prawie ostatniego metra.

Wzór wymaga znajomości podstawowych ściegów dziewiarskich, nie jest trudny, szybko staje się intuicyjny. Na prawej stronie używane są zarówno oczka prawe jak i lewe, daje to ciekawszy efekt po obu stronach robótki, gdyż dzięki temu lewa strona ma też swój wzór i nie wygląda tak całkowicie na tą spodnią. Jednocześnie, lewa strona jest przerabiana zawsze na lewo i nie wymaga dodatkowej uwagi.

Włóczka – dowolnej grubości, od fingering do DK, czyli 200 – 400m w 100g. Moją Jagienkę wydziergałam ze 100% bawełny Drops Safran na drutach 3mm, zużyłam 250g / 800m, a chusta ma wymiary 197 x 81cm.
Chusta jest w wersji na lato, ale możesz ją bez problemu wydziergać z cieplejszej włóczki, żeby grzała w zimie.

Druty – dostosowane do włóczki, z której robisz. Nie należy robić ani zbyt ściśle, ani bardzo luźno.

Próbka – nie jest istotna, zależy od włóczki, drutów i Twojego sposobu dziergania, moja to 22 oczek x 30 rzędów = 10x10cm
