Named after my beret-wearing mother, Rubi has a lovely, classic shape. It’s crocheted from the top in worsted-weight yarn in spiral half double crochet, and a narrow welt band provides an elegant finish.

The Rubi hat can be worn as a traditional beret, with a drape to one side, or pulled down into a slouchy, with overall fullness in the crown.
