Rubus Slouch in its ruby coloured yarn reminded me of raspberries, ‘Rubus’ being the plant family that the raspberry belongs. I have many happy memories of berry picking as a child, we would return to the kitchen with our haul and mum would put them into a pie with some apples.

This pattern is written for both DK/8ply and Aran weight yarns.

The hat is worked in the round, bottom up from the brim. Designed with just a subtle slouch in mind, it is easliy customised. Directions are included to measure your head with options provided to fit as a beanie or to add extra slouch.

The skill level is rated as ‘Advanced Beginner’ since the stitch pattern may be fiddly for an absolute beginner to execute, but a confident or adventurous beginner should not be discouraged.

The gathered stitch used in this pattern is based on an Estonian lace technique, a full photo tutorial is included.
