A bottom-up tank featuring simple side ruching
Skill Level: Intermediate
This tank is knit from the bottom up, with the body worked in the round first, then the tank straps worked flat. This tank is designed to fit longer than your normal sweater to accommodate the ruching and give it a draped look.
The pattern is designed to have 3 inches of positive ease. Select a size in the chart below based on your actual bust width plus the 3 inches of positive ease, totaling the bust width in (A).
Size:
XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)
Finished Measurements:
Bust: 32” (36, 40, 44, 48) (52, 56, 60, 64”)
Length: 27” (27, 27, 27, 27) (29, 29, 29, 29”)
Gauge:
20 sts x 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Yarn:
213 (254, 298, 346, 396) (450, 507, 567, 631) yards of fingering weight yarn in pink (MC), and
209 (250, 293, 339, 389) (442, 498, 557, 619) yards of fingering weight yarn in blue (CC)
Suggested Needles:
Size 3.5mm (US 4) circular knitting needles
Size 3.5mm (US 4) double pointed needles, or small circular needles
Notions:
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle
Scrap yarn
NOTE: This pattern was not tested for sizes 3XL-5XL. I strive to make my patterns size inclusive to fit many different body types.
