Rudbeckia Cowl
Wrap yourself in the beauty of autumn with the Rudbeckia Cowl, a unisex design, available in three sizes, inspired by the striking structure of Black-Eyed Susan flower heads left behind in the autumn.
This cowl features an engaging stranded colourwork pattern based on the round architectural seedheads that stand proud during the dark days of winter.
For those new to colourwork there is a comprehensive section on choosing colours based on colour theory, yarn handling tips and techniques and managing tension.
CONSTRUCTION:
The Rudbeckia Cowl is worked in the round from the bottom up. A short section of ribbing is followed by the stranded colorwork section, which is offered with both charted and written instructions. The ribbing is then repeated at the top of the cowl.
SKILLS:
Basic knitting skills including cast on, bind off and knit are all that is required as there is no shaping involved. There are a few rounds that require three shades, which may require slightly more dexterity, but is very do-able for most knitters.
YARN:
DK weight yarn. Although not essential, wool based yarn will help your stitches to stay pop and its elasticity will help with even tension. The sample is knit in The Fibre Co. Lore (100% lambswool).
