Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Hairdo Ornament
Happy Holidays! Rudolph the Red-Nosed Hairdo, the Reindeer Hair Accessory/Ornament, can be made in less than an hour by the advanced beginner crocheter, for a wonderful cute gift for daughters, sisters, nieces and friends, or a festive hair accessory for yourself and your daughters during the holidays.
The finished result is one-size-fits-all and suited for those with hair long enough to make a round bun. Gauge is not important.
Using scraps of WORSTED WEIGHT yarn from your stash. I used Red Heart Super Saver. You will need less than 90 yards total, in RED, BROWN AND TAN. This written pattern employs the chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, increases and decreases. The 3D nose is made in the round, amigurumi-style, and can be stuffed with a bit of polyfil or a cotton ball, or left empty. The Face and Antlers are crocheted flat. The one-piece Antlers are crocheted separately and then sewn on the back. The eyes are sewn on, but you could use the glue-on type if that’s what you have available, with some good fabric glue. You could also crochet the eyes with a bit of black yarn and a bit of white yarn, but instructions for crocheting the eyes are not included.
To Wear: Make a low pony tail on the back of your head. Attach the reindeer to the back of your head with one hairpin, so the nose is above the base of the pony tail. Wind your hair around the nose, twisting as you go around. Secure the circular bun with hairpins.
