Ruffled Ascot
My inspiration came from the pastoral intern at my church who wore a simple thin ribbed knit scarf and refused to take it off inside the 108 year old building with intermittent heat. I thought this would look smashing on her and as an indoor/outdoor piece.
Also it’s one skein and not too difficult, my favorite recipe for gifts. It is knit flat and the double increase for the ruffle is explained in the notes.
Yarn: Worsted weight, 189 yards.
Berroco Flicker (87% Baby Alpaca, 8% Acrylique, 5% Other fibers)
(shown in photo)
Gauge: 5 stitches = 1” (2.5 cm) and 7 rows = 1” in stockinette stitch
Needles: US Size 8 (5.0mm)
Notions: tapestry needle.
Sizes: one size, finished scarf is 24” (60 cm)
Watch gauge because this will use the entire skein.
Please note that the pattern version on Knit Picks is modified for a skein of 198 yards minimum. This version is written for slightly less yarn at a minimum of 189 yards.
Thank you to my technical editor, KTLV.
