I created this cowl to have the bottom would lie flat over part of my shoulders so that the collar of my coat would comfortably sit on its edge. I also wanted a cowl to fit over my head like a hood, so the top edge is ribbed to give it a snug fit for warm days.

The finished tube should measure 17.5 inches long. The circumference of the tube in the non-ribbed and non-ruffled edges is 22.5 inches
