I love ruffles and a feminine, flattering look in a shawl. The shape of this is pretty much a half-oval with the ruffle added to the lower edge.

I designed this shawl to be done with 2 strands of very fine yarns, although just about any yarn will work. This one is done with a very fine kid mohair and a sport weight blend of cotton and rayon metallic to give it weight and drapability. It hangs beautifully and is long enough to keep you warm and stay put.

The shawl and ruffle are knit in stockinette stitch. The border is attached to the shawl with a slip crochet to keep the seam from stretching. Then, the entire piece is bordered with a row of backwards crochet after being stabilized with a row of slip crochet.

It’s really a very easy pattern and fun to do. And is also easily adaptable to different thicknesses of yarn and also different sizes. Also, I’m always happy to help. Happy Knitting!
