Ruffles and Picots Fingerless Gloves
Note: This pattern is an adaptation of a pattern published in Piecework in 2009. I changed the length of the pattern for something more modern, and modified the ruffled edge for something a little frillier.
This pattern is knit in the round on double pointed needles, but it is reccomended that you start with a 24” circular needle to accomodate the high number of stitches that you start with. If you are not comfortable knitting in the round, simply knit a rectangle, bind-off as instructed, and seam up the sides and create an opening for your thumb.
The pattern is very flexible with regards to how long you want your mittens to be over your fingers or up your wrist. Simply change where you put your thumb opening to adjust the length up your wrist, and knit fewer of more rows before binding off the adjust how much of your fingers are covered. I knit the original mitts with a single skein of Louet Gems. As I had no more yarn of the same color, the amount of yarn dictated how long the mitts would be.
