PATTERN UPDATED FEB 2023.
This pattern was specially designed for Woolly Mammoth Fibre Company’s Advent Calendar 2020: “A Rural Irish Christmas”.
For this project, play comes at the forefront. This is a very entertaining shawl that requires some planning but little else. The main pattern is purposely simple and easy to memorize so you can focus on choosing the next color. Miniskeins and leftovers are perfect for this project!
I wanted the shawl to be easy to wear, not only fun to knit, so I suggest you divide your mini skeins in 2 large groups to create the different sections of the shawl: neutrals and color. The neutral colors will be used to work the wings of the shawl. The long tips will sit at the front of the body, and the neutral shades will blend nicely with whatever it is you are wearing.
The color play happens at the main central section of the shawl and it is very easy to customize both in length and color combination.
