Rule 110 Hat
My boyfriend and I are going to Iceland in March, so I convinced him he needed a wool hat to keep himself warm. He’s a computer programmer, and couldn’t have just any hat, so I told him he could find a pattern he liked and I’d knit it into a hat.
Keep in mind, this is my first pattern and also my first experience with decreasing while also using two colors at the same time (in a kind of fair-isle type way without actually being fair-isle). If you find mistakes, feel free to contact me! I’m happy to fix them or help with questions.
Rule 110 is a math pattern that is useful in computer science (somehow). It appears naturally but it can also be used for programming. For more information on how I made this hat (and info on how to code a message into this hat!), visit my blog. For more information on Rule 110 (and the other elementary cellular automata) visit this site.
Thanks for checking it out!
