Runaway :: a shallow triangle shawl with a long wingspan, inspired by Joan Jett in her punk rock days playing with The Runaways, knit using a combination of garter stitch and brioche.

This shawl was first designed for the Rockin’ Sock Club in 2017 with Blue Moon Fiber Arts! It was completely inspired by Joan Jett in her punk rock days playing with The Runaways, incorporating stripes using one-color brioche, garter stitch short rows, and alternating garter stripes. The lacey fishnet-inspired section is created using two-color brioche lace to imitate open lace and grommet holes. The shawl is finally finished off with a simple garter stitch border with large grommet holes, the perfect place to add some fringe.

Skill level: Beginner - Intermediate. This is a fantastic shawl for a brioche newbie wanting to just get your feet a little wet!! Techniques used: knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases, garter stitch short rows, large grommets, adding fringe!

Construction Notes: This symmetrical triangle shawl is knit from the top down, with increases in on each edge as well as in the center. This shaping continues throughout each section until the border. This shawl is the perfect spring and summer accessory, wrapped around your shoulders on a cool evening, or around your neck with the fringe hanging down kerchief-style!

The two-color brioche border for this shawl is both written and charted for your convenience!
