Rupert the reindeer
This is a .pdf crochet pattern.
Meet Rupert, cousin of Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. With this easy pattern you can make your own reindeer or Rudolph by only changing the colour of the nose. The pattern is written in standard American crochet terms.
Size
Size of finished reindeer made with worsted weight yarn: 6.7 inch/ 17 cm when sitting.
The crochet pattern contains
An intro with useful info. List of materials, tools and accessories needed. Brand and colour numbers of the needed yarn. A clear and colour coded description of how to crochet and assemble the animal. Pictures and illustrations to help getting everything right. All my patterns are text edited for correct English and have been tested by an experienced crocheter before publishing.
Materials
For this reindeer you’ll need worsted weight yarn and an E US/3.5 mm crochet hook. You’ll need three colours of yarn, murky brown (1/2 of a 100 yard skein), light beige (1/5) and chocolate (1/5). These quantities are estimates. For the eyes I’ve used 8 mm animal eyes. You will also need fibrefill and pellets for a bit of extra weight in the body (I use Hama beads). Inserting pipe cleaners in the antlers is an option. Lopi colour numbers: 0867, 1420 and 0086.
Yarn
Istex Lett lopi. I strongly recommend using a fuzzy yarn because it gives the best result.
Gauge is unimportant for this pattern. If the pieces are crocheted tightly enough, they will not gape visibly when stuffed. You can make a little test swap to be sure.
