Russian Doll Matryoshka Babushka
Excuse me little dollies, why are you so sweet ?!
This PDF pattern (US terminology) will guide you to crochet a Russian Doll as shown in pictures, made using 8 ply / DK soft acrylic yarn (wool or cotton) and crochet hook E (3.5 mm).
Finished size will be approx. 9.5” (24 cm) tall. The doll’s head and body are crocheted together as 1 part. At the bottom of the doll’s body there will be some textured and colored stitches worked in, for an interesting and folkloristic look.
Most parts are worked in continuous rounds, some parts are worked in rows. If you wish to make a taller or smaller version of this amigurumi you can just use thicker or thinner yarn / crochet hook.
Gauge is not important for this pattern, just crochet tight enough so the stuffing will not show through the stitches.
Materials used :
- crochet hook size E (3.5 mm)
- yarn in skin color, dark blue, green (all approx. 25 gr, 70 yds, 65 m) small amounts of dark brown, yellow, pink, red, orange, aqua blue
- fiberfill stuffing, stitch marker, tapestry needle, pins, scissors, optional: plastic canvas
- sewing thread (matching colors), black embroidery floss, 1 pair 9 mm safety eyes
Stitches used:
chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, bobble stitch, spike stitch (instruction for last 2 stitches included), increasing, decreasing
Skill level: advanced beginner - intermediate
