This blanket can be as big as you like. Just keep going until you have had enough or the blanket has reached the desired size.
When knitting garter stitch it is advisable to slip the first stitch of the row. Doing this will give you a row of purl bumps that will make it easier to pick up stitches.
There will be quite a bit of yarn left over after the blanket is done. Knit up your teddy in many colours.
