Rusty Bucket Shawlette
I named this shawlette the Rusty Bucket Shawlette because of the colors I chose, but you can come up with your own name for it once you pick the 5 colors that you will be using in the design. Knit almost entirely in garter stitch except for a small slip stitch linen stitch that divides the German Short Row color wave border from the crescent-shaping short rows of the main body, this is a good pattern to try your hand at the German Short Row technique without making a huge commitment in yarn or time. It is knit from the bottom up, and the color work is all worked in the border and in the slip stitch rows above the border. This pattern is written for worsted weight yarn, and worked up to be 6 feet in length and 10 inches at its center, deepest point. It would probably also knit up nicely in DK or sport weight, but your measurements will be smaller than mine. Blocking was not even necessary with this piece because the yarn I used, Sweetgeorgia Superwash Merino Wool Worsted, held its shape so well. I used about 410 yards to knit the shawlette in, divided up among 5 different colors…auburn, birch, silver, slate, and charcoal. Complete written directions only and video link tutorials are included within the pattern.
