Autumn is an eternal source of inspiration. Bright and colorful at first, it makes you giddy with delight. Then leaves begin to drop off becoming dry and crusty. Through that beautiful sweet aroma of fallen leaves you can feel crisp scent of winter approaching.
This very moment of changing seasons gave me the inspiration to design The Rusty Time Cardigan and adorn it with the pattern resembling autumn fires.
Marvelous Knoll Yarns Lambswool helped to bring it to life.

I offer you a relaxed fit cardigan, slightly fitted or slightly flared, with round neckline and straight sleeves, worked in stockinette and “moss” stitch and adorned with lacy aran pattern on front, and back. This seamless cardigan is knitted from top down: at the beginning, the back and two front pieces are worked separately; after shaping the armholes all parts are joined together and worked as one piece. Sleeves are worked seamlessly by picking up sts along the armhole, shaping the sleeve cap with short rows, and knitting down to the cuff.
I finished all the edges with an i-cord, and made a few button loops.

The lacy aran pattern is worked on both Right and Wrong sides.

Difficulty Level - medium. You have to know how to work short rows, knit lace, cables, and i-cord, increase and decrease stitches at the beginning and at the end of a row, read charts.

Gauge in stockinette stitch:​ 24 sts х 34 rows = 10 х 10 cm.

Suggested yarn: Knoll Yarns Lambswool or any other fingering/sport weight yarn approximately 420 m/100g.

For the basic model, you will need approximately 300 g for size 44-46; 400 g for size 48-50.

Needles & Notions:
Knitting needles 2.5 - 3.5 mm (or any other size to get the gauge); spare needles or stitch holders; stitch markers; tapestry needle; 10 buttons.

For my project, I used 3.5 mm needles, but you may need smaller or bigger needles to get the right gauge.

Size: ​44-46 (S-M), 48-50 (L).

Осень - вечный источник вдохновения. Сначала она яркая и разноцветная, кружит голову буйством красок, а потом увядание становится все заметней, появляется запах палой листвы и приближающейся зимы.
Именно вот этот момент перехода вдохновил меня на мой новый кардиган “Время ржавчины”. И, конечно, прекрасная пряжа Knoll Yarns Lambswool. А узор немного напоминает листья или осенние костры.

Я предлагаю вашему вниманию кардиган свободного силуэта, расклешенный книзу, с округлым вырезом горловины, прямыми рукавами и ажурными аранами. Основное полотно - лицевая гладь и “рис”.
Направление вязания - сверху вниз, в изделии нет ни одного шва. После пройм полочки и спинка объединяются в единое полотно, дальше вяжется все вместе. Узор вывязывается как в лицевых, так и в изнаночных рядах.
Обработка планок, горловины, низа - единым блоком. Я использовала обвязку дуршнуром и сделала несколько навесных петель для пуговиц.
Рукава вывязаны с помощью укороченных рядов, сверху вниз из пройм.

Уровень сложности - средний.
Для вязания этой модели нужно уметь выполнять укороченные ряды, вязать ажурные узоры и араны, читать схему, вязать дуршнур, прибавлять петли в начале и в конце ряда.

Плотность вязания гладью:​ 24 петли х 34 ряда = 10 х 10 см.

Примерная толщина - около 420 м/100 гр.

Предполагаемый расход для базовой модели:
порядка 300 грамм для размера 44-46, 400 - для размера 48-50.
