Bottom photo shows how wide the towel is!
My goal for this pattern was two-fold. First, I wanted a hanger that would allow the towel to lie flat on a variety of handles and use less than 2 oz. of worsted weight cotton.
As you can see in the photos on the left the narrow tab fits equally well on knob, a drawer handle and a wider oven door handle. The button placement allows the towel to lie flat on various doors.
I make many gift sets featuring a picture cloth with a matching varigated towel. Since the varigated yarn I use comes in 2 oz. balls I wanted a towel that used one skein or less. This pattern produces a towel that hangs long enough to be quickly grabbed and wide enough to be serviceable when drying both hands.
