From roots deep under furrowed earth, young leaves unfurl from growing plantings. This image brings memories of my grandmother Ruth, planting and tending her spring garden. She mixed herbs, vegetables and flowers in the same plot, combining the useful with the “just for pretty”. I designed this shawl in her memory.

Ruth’s Garden Shawl is crescent shaped, beginning at top center back and worked down and outward. The shawl features a small vining leaf pattern and finishes with a suggestion of earth and roots. Directions are provided for adjusting size.

Note: The color changes in the large model are due to use of a gradient yarn. This pattern does not contain instructions for working color changes.
