This blanket is inspired by the Song Dynasty’s red ground Babada Yun brocade. The brocade surface consists of patterns in the shape of eight petals, both large and small, along with vertically intersecting stripes. At the center, there are interlocking Ruyi motifs and lotus seed-lotus flower designs. In the gaps between the eight-petaled patterns and the straight stripes, the blanket is adorned with the “rectangular pattern,” commonly found on bronze vessels. Using crochet techniques to recreate this design, it borrows from the color gradation method, and through the contrast of light and dark in the sizes of the floral elements, it ensures that the entire pattern has clear layers and a bright appearance.

In Chinese traditional culture, the lotus and its seeds carry the auspicious meanings of having many descendants and the birth of a precious child. The blanket employs the Four Harmony Ruyi motif, where four Ruyi symbols converge and spread out in four directions, indicating good luck in every matter, symbolizing auspiciousness and wealth. This blanket is not only capable of beautifying your living space but is also a fine choice as a gift.
