Finished Size 39 (41, 43 1/2, 45 1/2, 49 1/2, 54)“ bust circumference, buttoned. Cardigan shown measures 39”, modeled with 5” of positive ease.
Yarn Classic Elite Yarns MountainTop Crestone (100% natural undyed wool; 100 yd 91 m/1 3/4 oz 50 g): #5144 umber, 16 (17, 17, 18, 21, 22) hanks.
Needles Size 8 (5 mm): 16” and 36” circulars (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers (m); stitch holders; cable needle (cn); size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook; tapestry needle; 5 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6) toggle buttons; one 1” button.
Gauge 19 sts and 25 rows = 4” in St st; 11-st cable rep = 1 3/4” wide; 40 sts of back cable = 4 1/2” wide.
The Saddleback Cardigan extends the traditional saddle shoulders to the top of the back, creating intriguing changes in direction and a canvas for rich cabling.
