Sadie is a pretty little mouse knit in one piece, totally seamlessly, from the tip of her little nose to the tip of her pointy toes.

Sadie was born out of the most joyful collaboration with Wild and Woolly and The Wool Kitchen. As a limited edition for Christmas, Sadie Souris kits are available on Wild and Woolly website (all the infos here)

For now, the PDF is available in english only.

It includes instructions to knit the little mouse, a pair of trousers with braces, a fancy tartan vest, a pretty dressy dress for special occasions and a little pointy beanie.
Everything to equip your little mouse with a nice capsule wardrobe, perfect for playing dress-up !

Instructions are written to be worked either with DPNs or magic loop.

It is designed for fingering weight yarns.
(See below for the details about the yarns used)

Sadie is small as a mouse can be : 17 cm tall and light as a feather.

A perfect little project to make gifts for your loved ones, small and grown up, and to use up your scraps or your favorite and cherished miniskeins, maybe some leftovers from your own wardrobe !

AMOUNT OF YARN
° Knitted in fingering weight yarn, one little mouse fits into a mini skein (about 76 m / 83 yds)
° to knit all the clothes, you will need about 40 g (about 160 m / 174 yds)

As shown in pictures, Sadie is knit in a beautiful blend of Merino, yak and silk, selected by Wild and Woolly and her wardrobe is made of The Wool Kitchen beautiful colors, specially made available in mini-skeins for our little mouse (you’ll find all the details about the yarn below).

As for all my patterns, the process is thought for the maker’s happiness of having a character truly emerging during the knitting, a very lively little soul appearing at a early stage of the making then growing organically stitch by stitch.

  • No seaming.
  • No assembling.
  • All the finishing done as you go, and face features added right from the beginning. When you’re done with the last stitch, you’re done with your little woolly friend too.

Sadie is made all in one piece from her little pointy nose to her little pointy feet. All the finishing is tackled as you go and you won’t have to worry about assembling pieces at the end.

You’ll start with her little nose, then you will shape her head, and add her facial features, including her ears – everything that gives her a true soul right from the beginning – then her shoulders, her arms and little paws (all using live stitches, while others stay on hold), then her body and her bottom, and her long little tail, knit out of previously marked stitches. Finally her legs, also using live stitches while others are on hold. Sadie will grow organically from your needles, with no seaming at all.

All along, instructions are given to tackle the required finishing as you go, leaving only a small opening to close at the very end of the making.

Of course Sadie is tiny, so you must have a taste for fiddly knitting, but everything is provided in the pattern for you to succeed and have pleasure knitting her.

  • Sadie Souris pattern has been tested and fully tech edited by Amelia Hodsdon (Woollen Words).

  • About the difficulty level : i would rate it between advanced beginners and intermediate. The only true prerequisite is knowing how to knit small circumferences in the round. On this basis, I worked at providing detailed instructions as well as extra tips and pictures, to offer a smooth process. If you’ve already knit a sock or a mitten, something small and tubular, then you can do it !

  • Instructions are written to be worked either with DPNs or magic loop.

  • Specific techniques : short rows using yarnovers or simple decreases with detailed instructions provided

At first sight, you might think that this pattern contains a lot of pages, and conclude that it’s a complicated knit. But do not run away ! If there are many pages, it’s because i want to share with you all the hints and tips that will make the knitting easier and even more enjoyable. Above everything, i would like you to be happy while knitting this cuddly toy and not just when you will have finished it. As passionate knitters, we all know that the process is already a thing that brings us joy, peace and balance, and this should also be true for toys, even if they are small things.

So here is how the pattern’s content will unfold …

First, you’ll find my plain sailing guide to knit a toy in one piece, where i gathered the things you need to know to achieve this with ease and pleasure. I recommend you read it thoroughly before starting your toy. During this first read, some points might remain abstract without your knitting in your hands, but then you’ll know where to come back to if you need extra help. After this first read, you will decide if you need to print this guide or not, most likely depending on how new you are to my style and method. If you feel at home already, you’ll be able to skip it !

Then, you’ll come across the instructions to knit your own little mouse and to dress her. During these instructions, i will remind you where in the guide you can find extra help to complete some specific sections.
