Sadie Top
This boho-chic top, with its cinched waist, open back, tassel details, and large, puffy sleeves, is dramatic, romantic, and quite fun to create! This novice level pattern is written tutorial style, meaning it can be made in any size required! Any DK, sport, or fingering weight yarn can be used to complete this project. It is highly recommended that you use a slightly larger hook size than recommended on your yarn label to help achieve an airy, lightweight stitch that will complement the style of this top.
The Sadie Top is constructed in two halves- a right and left side. Each half is constructed identically, starting at the sleeve cuff, and working up the arm in joined rounds until it reaches the shoulder. A side seam is created, and the piece is worked in turned rows until the front and back are the desired width. A lace edging is created along the neckline, and the two halves are joined along the bottom edge. Two tassel cords are created, one is used to cinch the waist in, and the other is used to tie the back to prevent the top from slipping off the shoulders.
This pattern is written tutorial style- instead of listing specific sizes using a set number of stitches/rows/gauge/etc per given size, it’s more so a detailed guide on how to make this pattern to fit any size, using any type of yarn. This approach allows crocheters to easily adapt the pattern to fit all sorts of body types, rather than only be provided with a few specific, set sizes.
