INTRODUCTION TO THE WORKFLOW:
Safran top is worked from bottom upwards in two separate pieces: back and front. Then the parts are sewn together along the sides using mattress stitch. The shoulders are sewn using stockinette seam. Armholes and neckline are framed with chain borders on two edge stitches.
Begin by swatching to determine which needle size you need to achieve the correct gauge.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
Yarn: Drops Safran 100% cotton 50g/160m (1.76 oz/175yds) 3, 3, 4, 4 skeins.
Note: you can choose another yarn brand. It can be any Fine weight - Sport yarn that allows you to obtain the correct gauge.
● A pair of 3mm (US 2,5) needles
● A pair of 2.5mm (US 1.5) needles
● 3 buttons with 2 cm (3/4”) diameter
● Tapestry needle
● Stitch holder or about 20 cm of waste yarn (8 inches)
● Stitch marker
● Measuring tape
● Scissors
GAUGE (TENSION) approximate:
23sts and 29rows = 10x10cm (4x4”) in stockinette stitch after washing and blocking. The swatch is made with 3 mm (US 2.5) knitting needles. If your gauge doesn’t match indicated, try going up or down one needles size. It is important to obtain the indicated gauge so that the ready-made item has correct proportions.
