Named for a big lake that straddles the Minnesota/Canadian border, this hat features a combination of stripes and simple geometric motifs. With no long floats to capture, it makes for a great introduction to stranded knitting.

Size: Fits up to 22” head
Yarn: 2 colors of heavy dk/light worsted weight yarn. Samples used The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers Pishkun. You’ll need about 100 yards/92 meters of MC and 64 yards/60 meters of CC
Suggested Needles: Size US 7 (4.5 mm) 16” circular needles and set of double points for crown shaping.
Gauge: 22 sts & 28 rows = 4 in/10 cm in stranded colorwork
Notions: stitch marker, tape measure, scissors, tapestry needle
Techniques Used: Knit, purl, stranded colorwork (charted only), k2tog.
