I thought it was time I knit something for my husband. I wanted it to feel like a warm hug every time he used it. This blanket has been the perfect gift for him and he even makes sure the Mosaic stitches are always right side up. Now if I could only get him to fold it up and put it on the couch when he isn’t using it, although Halle seems to enjoy it where it is.
For myself I knit this shawl version:

Mosaic knitting is incredibly beautiful and amazingly simple, nothing to fear and wonderful to learn! All the stitches are basic, even the Mosaic effect is achieved through the simplest of slipped stitches and working with only one colour in each row.
Easy Peasy, I promise. Even beginners will find this fun and simple to do.
Pattern instructions are written out in full, row by row.
There are also charts to follow if you are a chart knitter. But if you aren’t you can just skip over them and ignore them completely.
Measurements: After blocking: approximately 125 cm/49” wide x 150 cm/59” length.
Gauge: Before blocking: 11 stitches x 15 rows = 10 cm/4” square in stocking stitch.

Bernat Softee Chunky. 100% Acrylic. 100g/3.5 oz., 99 m/ 108 yds. Super Bulky (5-6 wpi).
Colour (A): 7 balls Taupe Grey #28048 (54 grams leftover).
Colour (B): 7 balls Linen #28021 (34 grams leftover).
Needles and supplies:
9 mm/US 13 circular needles minimum 100 cm/40” for sides of blanket.
9 mm/US 13 straight needles (or shorter circulars) for Mosaic section.
4 stitch markers.
Tapestry needle.
The amounts of yarn used are based on my sample for the design but will depend on the yarn you choose, variations in yarn thickness of each colour, your personal gauge/tension and any changes made. You may want to purchase an extra ball of each colour so as not to run short.
With special thanks to my tech editor and testers. You help me to make the best pattern possible.
