Sahara Skies Shawl
This shawl is named after the beautiful colour-way of the gradient yarn used to make it. Both the gradient yarn and the contrasting colour yarn are made from cotton, with a little nylon for strength, and they are so light and soft, you will love wearing this shawl. Its curved shape makes it well-suited for draping over your shoulders to keep out the chill or wrapping around your neck like a scarf.
It’s knit from the top down, starting with a garter tab, and is divided into sections of stocking/stockinette stitch, punctuated by garter ridges and a basic lace pattern. The picot bind-off (one of my favourites for shawls because it is both pretty and stretchy) gives that extra bit of visual interest. The pattern includes plenty of detail, so can be worked by relative beginners, as well as by more experienced knitters.
I’ve used a gradient yarn and a solid contrasting colour (90g of each), but you could equally use two sold colours, a single colour, or a different colour for each section!
