Sail Away Shrug
The Knits That Breathe ebook is available for purchase and instant download now from Ravelry. Or, order the paperback version from Amazon, your LYS, or my website.
Very few wool blend fibers are featured in KNITS THAT BREATHE for the obvious reason: wool is too warm to wear during a personal summer, and itchy to those with sensitive skin. But in addition to wool, Lorna’s Laces Sportmate includes Outlast®, a patented fiber that absorbs, stores, and releases body heat, adapting automatically to keep the wearer comfortable. One artful fold and two short seams turn a simple length of all-over lace into a breezy shrug that is completed with gathered cuffs.
This shrug is worked back and forth in rows from the bottom up. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. Once the main part of the shrug has been blocked and assembled, cuff stitches are worked in the round down from the ends, with options given for either gathered cuffs or loose kimono sleeve edging. Body edging is worked in Single Crochet. Lace part instructions are provided in both written row-by-row and chart formats.
