“Sailorette” is a sailor’s shirt with a feminine touch or two: obviously the lace pattern on shoulders and hem … plus the slightest hint of rosé in the stripes.

It is (mainly) worked top-down, completely seamless and without picking up any stitches: The single-colored lace part on the shoulders is worked first, from sleeve edge to sleeve edge, including the front neck’s lace edge. Then the (striped) triangles between the shoulder lace and the front neck lace are shaped with short rows, adding stitches in every other row. Sleeves are joined at the underarms, and the striped body is worked top-down in the round up to the lace hem, which is added in main color only.

Gauge: 24 sts x 36 rows with needle 3,25 in lace pattern and 3,5mm in Stockinette.

Approx. 1300 /1400/ 1500 / 1600/ 1700 m of a Fingering or Sport weight needed, with 800/ 840/ 900/ 960/ 1020 m main color (MC) and the rest in CC.

Suggested yarns: Combinations of wool with either linen or cotton. The striped sample was worked in Ruppert Garne Soft Lamb (100% wool, 425m/ 50g) held together with Isager Japansk Bomuld (315m/ 50g, 100% cotton).
You could easily substitute the cotton with Ruppert Garne Linaru (300m/ 50g, 100% linen) – Sabine at Ruppert Garne will be glad to assist you with the color matching.

The single-color sample was worked in Skudderia Merino Single at gauge 26 (one size bigger to compensate the gauge difference).

5 sizes available: bust circumferences 84/ 96/ 108/ 120/ 132cm (= 33/ 37,5/ 42,5/ 47/ 52 inches)
