Celtic knotwork art consists of one or more lines that loop and twist together in a complex weaving pattern. The sailor’s knot is a braid-like Celtic knot of two bands that wrap around each other with no breaks. According to the CountiesofIreland.com, “Denoting the union of two into one, the knot stands for the blending of individual lives into one with a common purpose.”

When doing 6 pattern repeats using a 2 mm hook and fingering weight yarn, the rectangular portion of the headband is 15 1/4” long x 4” tall.
