Saint Nicholas
Our tradition of hanging stockings on Christmas Eve (or for the feast of Saint Nicholas on the night before December 6) comes from the stories of a real man from Myra, in what is now Turkey. This stocking takes its inspiration from that piece of history. Using the bright, primary colors of traditional Turkish and Middle Eastern motifs and geometric patterning from tiles, rugs, and socks I created a stocking that the good bishop himself might have seen one night through a window.
Skills Required: Casting on with two colors, knitting in the round, stranded color knitting, short row knitting, chart reading.
