Saint-Olaf is a set of traditional knittings from the Shetland islands. Fishermen’ s wives used to knit these long caps for their husbands and sons, and they still wear yoked cardigan…
Of course, my little ones won’t leave on a boat for months, but the XO
pattern is supposed to remind them how much they are loved…
Despite traditions, this hat is also perfect for girls…

Saint-Olaf cardigan is worked seamlessly in the round from the top down and cut.

The pattern comes with a “how to steek” lesson for beginners…

Size: fits 16-18” (40-45 cm) dolls

Gauge: 28 sts x 32 rows = 4”x 4” (10x10 cm) using needles US 3 (3,25mm)

Notions:

• a set of US 2.5 (3 mm) DPNS or circular needle
• a set of US 3 (3.25 mm) DPNS or circular needle or size needed to get the gauge
• a set of US 4 (3.5 mm) DPNS or circular needle if necessary for stranded rounds
• a tapestry needle
• 3 small buttons (0.3” / 8 mm) and cotton thread
• ½ yard of ribbon
• a small crochet (US 2 / 2.5 mm)
• waste yarn or holder
• small pointed scissors
