Saintpaulia
For this shawl I took my inspiration from a variety of African violet, with its exquisitely ruffled petals, mauve at the base and white at the fringe. Like the blooms of Louisiana Lullaby this shawl is delicate and seem quite fragile.

Stitch Count
Stitch counts increase by 4 on each RS row till 199 sts.
At the end of Chart 1 there are 219 sts:
2 edge sts + 107 sts + 1 center st + 107 sts + 2 edge sts.
So to show the break-up of the 107 sts of one side, the first row of Chart 2 is worked (from right to left) as:
11 sts + 17 sts X 5 reps (85 sts) + 11 sts = 107 sts
This is repeated on the other half after the center stitch.
When Chart 2 ends, there is a total increase of 32 sts. So 219 + 32 = 251 sts
2 edge sts + 123 sts + 1 center st + 123 sts + 2 edge sts
Now to show the break-up of the 123 sts of one side, the first row of Chart 3 is worked (from right to left) as:
10 sts + 17 st X 6 reps (102 sts) + 11 sts = 123 sts
This is repeated on the other half after the center stitch. When Chart 3 ends, there is a total increase of 20 sts. So 251 + 20 = 271sts
